I finally am back at work on the pathfinder . I really haven't done anything for several months. In my last update I had yet to install the bunk flats and I have done this. I am just finishing installing the king plank and a few extra carlings of sorts
I decided that I was not going to have a anchor well in my version . I made my anchor well to plan. with the floor installed for the anchor well and then cut out a storage hole in the bulkhead.. I added a very ample fir deck beam sistered to the bulkhead for needed support for the deck..

This picture shows the king plank installed and my sistered deck beams in my version of the anchor well. |
This is a picture looking into the foot well where the round hatch covers will be .I am going to buy the heavy duty non leaky store bought ones for the hatches under the seats and forward under the anchor well . I am making my own hatches every where else . I am pretty sure mine wont be water tight so these will give me the water tight air compartments if the boat capsizes
I finally installed the top deck at the bow. there is lots of bend here and I started at the center seam and used clamps on the edge of the deck to the bottom of the sheer strake.... I used a ton of fasteners to keep every thing fair but a batten along the edges would have been easier in hind sight......
the next piece is ready I just need to glue a doubler under where the two deck pieces meet.
A flurry of activity , tools every where..garbage overflowing... I am messy and I don't care
I finished laying down the deck and am glad about this little milestone

I have been thinking for awhile about changing the coaming a little . I decided to do a mock up of my idea and see how it looked and felt when seated. My plan is to bring the coaming down to the seat and use this area behind as a storage place.
This is my plan made out of door skin. I am going to make the sides out of 6 mm and I am changing the coaming at the fore deck to follow the curve of the foredeck edge . I am going to make this of 2 pieces of 3mm lamminated together.. I was happy with the way It felt and looked so now I can use my mock up pieces as a patteren....I guess I will need to make a little coming infront of the mast. I am also unsure about how to deal with the motor well .
