I finally got back to work on the pathfinder lately .. My finger has healed but I think it will never be the same ... You quickly realize how important those digits are when you can't use them...

I have been doing allot of filleting .  after I filleted under the bunk flats and the seats I am doing three coats of epoxy and then will paint .. This should give a good protection against moisture damage.. It will still be important to leave the inspection covers off when the boat is in storage, to promote air circulation and drying....

I also have been working on the center board . The way I am attaching the center board to the case is with bronze oarlocks .. I have inserted 2 on the center board that will serve as a axel and 2 more will be placed in the case . I threaded the oarlocks  that will be placed in the case to be able to hold bolts to hold the bronze pin in........
I need to give it another coat of epoxy and the paint it... I will then need to make some friends and invite them over to my house to lift my boat up so I can install the center board into the case so I can seal up the bunk flats.. Much easier to do this now then to try to install later through inspection holes
A little deer outside my shop.. I don't mind them as long as they stay out of the garden... It is funny though I just took this picture and although it looks Like a warm spring day I am not gluing because it is only about 6 degrees Celsius...

For a break in filleting and other tedious epoxy chores ,  I cut up some mahogany for the foot well deck.. I have the pieces dry fit more or less into place and will glue them  tomorrow..
After encapsulating with 3 coats of epoxy, I painted a first coat of primer inside the seat compartments....  I will be very happy when I finally can glue on the seats and bunk flats
In the previous photo I had proudly stated the fact that I had painted a base coat for my enamel.... It never cured for what-ever reason... maybe I did not get rid of the blush on the cured epoxy and also it was probably  to cold to paint.. I also read my particular base coat paint by interlux did not do well with epoxy...

any way nothing a paint scraper and some paint thinner couldn't fix. I then read in a forum some where to just apply straight enamel to the epoxy coating so that is what I did with perfect results..

anyway my seats are glued into place .I decided to make  my own hatches.. I am doing this because I am decking the seats and I didn't want plastic hatches. I also wanted something a little bigger for easier storage  I will put in a rubber seal and some sort of tab to hold the hatch down..

this is a side project .. I am casting some of my own fittings ... this will be the fitting that fits into the stem to brace the bow sprit... this is a wax model that I will cast using the  lost wax  casting method rather then sand casting ...
