I still haven't flipped the boat upright and it has been at least 2 more weeks... anyway I finally drilled holes for the drifts to help strengthen the rudder
It is always a happy minute to drill a long straight hole with out wrecking anything
I added a half round , actually half oval brass bumper to the stem .. I think this looks very nice. I really wanted to do this in bronze but could not find anything in this shape readily available... I also thought I would carry the bumper the length of the keel until I found out how much this would cost.. My 1 inch, half oval x 6 feet cost almost 80 dollars Canadian  ( almost par with a US buck I might add)

I know what your thinking though . I covered the spot I need to add the tow eye too.  I will cut that out later with my hack saw , I have a custom piece in mind that I am going to cast myself .. I am going to custom make a few parts myself such as the Pintles and Gudgeons

I added some rub rails to the bottom to help aide in the eventual running up on a rocky beach.... I always see pretty pictures of John Welsford sail boats anchored or beached on amazing south pacific white sand beaches... The Canadian pacific North west looks a little more rugged and has  rocks that like to bite when disturbed

I think I will have the boat flipped in a week ........

maybe.......

One final picture before bottom paint
after a couple of coats of bottom paint .... this is the minimum required amount ..I think I will add a couple more... I found that bottom paint is best applied with a roller after a bad start with a brush......

I see lots of little areas that could have played with some more , but at some point you have to say it is good enough....

I also did some work on the rudder assemble ... Drilling the pivot bolt ... every thing fit together pretty good..... and it pivots easily .. One thing I did wrong was cutting my bolt to short so the acorn nuts can't  be tightened to the end or it  pinches the cheeks closed and tightens up the assembly... I need to get another section of threaded 1/2 inch stainless, MEASURE TWICE  and cut it so I can tighten the acorns to the end with room for my washers as well........... oh well....

One of those things no one tells you but you learn regardless ( at expense)

I ran out of time and need to go back fishing diving at this very spot I took this sunrise picture.. I put away my shop and dought I will do much till april 2008
